ARTIST CV

​Ana Gonzalez-Galvan born 2007, Washington, D.C. native, is a painter and storyteller passionate about capturing the depth of human experiences through portraiture. Her work explores identity, humanity, and untold narratives within a broader societal context, often incorporating elements of her Mexican heritage and intricate patterns. Deeply interested in the ways environments, systems, and history shape individuals’ lives, she uses art as a tool to amplify unheard voices and critically examine the structures that define society. At the core of her work is a fundamental truth: at the end of the day, we are all bones.

“I Can Fly” was a cross-departmental exhibition at Duke Ellington School of the Arts, created by Yakob Tesfaye, that brought together all artistic disciplines for a night of performances and creative expression. As an exhibiting artist, Ana Gonzalez-Galvan contributed work that reflected the show’s themes of resilience and expression, highlighting the power of collaboration and storytelling through art.

Selected participant in an exclusive program organized by the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs, bringing together Mexican artists from around the world for a days of workshops and discussions on the role of art in culture.

Work Distributed by
Student Diplomacy Corps

Created and exhibited artwork during a cultural program in Spain. Selected pieces were chosen for print and distributed as postcards to the organization’s donors.

Toledo, Spain

After showcasing work during the Student Diplomacy Corps program, the Museo Sefardí in Toledo expressed interest in my art and displayed a piece at the museum. The artwork was also featured on the museum’s social media.

Grant for "Jornada de Artistas"
Mexican Secretary of Foreign Afairs

Selected by the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs to join an exclusive initiative for Mexican artists abroad, received comprehensive financial support. This grant fully covered round-trip airfare from Washington, D.C. to Mexico City, as well as all meals and additional travel expenses, ensuring an immersive and seamless cultural experience

Psi Phi Fraternity Talent Hunt DC

Ana made history in 2024 at the DC Chapter Psi Phi Fraternity Talent Hunt for being the first Visual Artist to win. She also won first place in both 2024 and 2025, showcasing outstanding artistic talent and standing out in a competitive field.

DC Public Library

Awarded first place in the Know Your Power Civic Engagement Art Competition, a citywide contest open to all schools across D.C., this competition was organized by the DC Public Library. Recognized for the depth of meaning and impact behind the work.

SADI Moore Summer Institute

Awarded a full scholarship to attend SADI Moore’s four-week Summer Art Institute. The opportunity was made possible through the Winston Scholarship, which covered the application fee.
